Minimal Bach
for organ duet and four choirs
Euwe de Jong
In the seventies of the previous century the so-called minimal music came across from America. The style was introduced by composers like Philip Glass and Steve Reich, who were inspired by the ritual music of African tribes: medicine men who beat their drums endlessly. Minimal music consists of prolonged repetition of short motifs that change gradually. Minimal and Bach: an impossible combination?
