BWV 194/5
Aria (S) Hilf, Gott, dass es uns gelingt - 1723 - Trinity
This dance-like soprano aria (a gavotte) was originally composed as part of Cantata 194 ‘Höchsterwünschtes Freudenfest’, written for the opening of the Hildebrandt organ in the village church of Störmthal (near Leipzig) which took place on the 2nd of November, 1723. Bach enriched this festive church service with the choir of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig and with his wife, Anna Magdalena (soprano) as soloist.
