BWV 28/1
Aria (S) Gottlob! Nun geht das Jahr zu Ende - 1725 - Christmas I
A joyful dancing ‘hymn’, expressing thanks to God for all the gifts of the last year. The work is clearly conceived, once again, to express a dialogue, in this instance involving three independent parties: two oboes, soprano and continuo. The remarkably transparent phrase structure of the work (which dates from 1725), hints at the embryonic galant style.
